Does GRAIN ROT Have Voice Chat? Evidence Status
Online co-op is confirmed, but the retained sources do not establish a built-in microphone feature.

In this field note
The retained sources do not establish whether GRAIN ROT has built-in voice chat. Steam confirms Online Co-op, but the retained AppDetails response contains no chat-type or microphone field. Neither retained tutorial demonstrates a microphone menu, push-to-talk, proximity range or player-to-player voice session.
What the source confirms
Steam confirms Multiplayer, Co-op and Online Co-op. The retained Steam snapshot does not identify any chat type. Custom Volume Controls and Stereo Sound are playback/accessibility categories, not microphone evidence.
The Rot Bloom creator video says corruption can distort “voice,” but the phrase alone does not prove that live player microphone audio is being transmitted. It could describe character audio or another effect. It should not be expanded into proximity, radio or dead-player rules.
What remains unverified
Built-in voice availability, proximity behavior, push-to-talk, open-mic mode, input-device selection and microphone permissions all remain unverified. A current-build inspection of the Audio/Voice menu and a real multiplayer session are required before publishing a positive answer.
If the current build shows no microphone or voice option, use an external communication channel rather than downloading an unofficial “voice fix.” If it does expose a mic setting, then standard Windows input and privacy checks become relevant, but that conditional troubleshooting is not proof that every build has voice chat.
How this answer can be upgraded
Capture the current Audio/Voice menu, input indicator and a two-player test while recording the game version. An official FAQ or patch note naming voice chat would also qualify. Until one of those exists, “not established” is the correct answer rather than “yes” or “no.”
Rot Bloom wording
The player-observed modifier guide reports voice distortion and nearby spread at high corruption. This supports a Rot Bloom effect description only. It does not by itself establish a live microphone system, and the exact affected audio should be checked in the current build.
What not to do
Do not disable Windows security, install unsigned audio “fixes” or expose account credentials. None of the retained evidence supports those steps. If basic device selection and permission checks fail, use the official Steam discussion route with reproducible details.
Evidence status: Online Co-op is Steam-confirmed. The retained AppDetails response contains no chat-type or microphone field; built-in voice chat, microphone input, proximity, push-to-talk, range and key bindings remain unverified as of August 10, 2026.
